Beef Rendang Recipe

Beef Rendang Indonesian FoodBeef Rendang is spicy beef dish made in an almost dry coconut sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams Beef, diced
  • 2 Onions, diced
  • 4 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 Red Chillies.
  • 2 1/2 cm Ginger.
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric.
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika.
  • 1 stalk Lemon Grass, chopped
  • 3 Lime Leaves.
  • 600 ml Coconut Milk.
  • 75 ml Water.

Instructions:

  • Put the onions, garlic, chillies, ginger, paprika, turmeric and water in a food processor and make into a smooth paste.
  • Take half of the beef and mix it with the paste.
  • Heat a heavy sauce pan. Add the other half of beef together with coconut milk, lemon grass and lime leaves
  • Let it boil without the lid for about 30 minutes.
  • Add the paste to the sauce pan and reduce the heat. Let it simmer for another hour until the beff steak is tender.
  • Serve together with rice.
