Kari Ikan Recipe

Kari Ikan Malaysian FoodKari Ikan is a fish dish made with taste of curry.

Ingredients:

  • 5 clove Garlic
  • 1 Onion
  • 3 tablespoons Fish Curry Powder
  • 3 tablespoons Tamarind, soak and dried
  • 2 1/4 cups Water
  • 4 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Black Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Fenugreek
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 stalk Curry Leaf
  • 2 Tomatoes, cut into wedges
  • 500 g Grouper
  • 10 Okra, ends removed
  • 2 Green Chilies, halved lengthwise
  • 125 mililiter Coconut Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Instructions:

  • Put garlic, onion and a little bit of oil in a blender and turn it into a smooth paste. Set aside.
  • Mix curry powder with 4 tablespoons water to form a paste, set aside.
  • Heat oil in a wide saucepan. Add mustard, fenugreek, cumin and curry leaves. Fry for about 30 seconds, until the mustard starts to pop.
  • Add the garlic and onion paste. Stir fry for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the curry paste and cook over low heat for 8-10 minutes.
  • bring to a boil and add tamaring jucie, fish and okras, tomatoes, chillies, coconut milk and salt.
  • Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, until the fish and okras are cooked.
  • Serve together with rice
