Nam Tok Recipe

Tom Yum Thai FoodNam Tok is a beef dish with salad.


  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 pounds Beef
  • 1/2 cup Chicken Stock
  • 3 tablespoons Lime Juice
  • 2 tablespoons Fish Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Rice Powder, roasted
  • 1/2 cup Mint Leaves
  • 1/4 cup Shallots, sliced
  • 4 Scallions, slice 1/4 lengths
  • 2 Chillies, seeded & chopped
  • 1 head Lettuce, separated into leaves
  • 1 head Cabbage, separated into leaves


  • Rub black pepper into the beef steak and put in on a broiler pan and let it broil for 3 minutes on each side.
  • Remove the steak from the broiler and put it on a plate and place it in the refrigerator, let it chill for about 30 minutes.
  • After the beef been in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, take it out and slice into very thin slices.
  • Prepare a saucepan, add the beef and chicken, lime juice, fish sauce, suger and rice powder. Let it boil.
  • Remove from the heat and put it in a bowl. Add mint leaves, shallots, scallions and chiles and mix it.
  • Serve it on a plate together with lettuce leaves and cabbage leaves.
